321 Stainless Steel Sheet is crafted with a titanium-stabilized austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel. Originally designed to offer an 18-8 type alloy with enhanced resistance to intergranular corrosion, this material combats chromium carbide formation by adding titanium. The inclusion of titanium, which binds more strongly with carbon than chromium, ensures that titanium carbide forms within the grains rather than at the grain boundaries. This makes the AISI 321 Stainless Steel Sheet suitable for applications that involve intermittent heating between 800ºF (427ºC) and 1650ºF (899ºC), as well as for welding scenarios that do not allow for a post-weld anneal.
