SS 317 is a specialized version of stainless steel, enhanced with molybdenum to boost its strength and enhance its resistance to pitting corrosion. It is known for its robust toughness and temperature endurance. Meanwhile, SS 317L, a lower carbon variant of the 317 grade, maintains similar corrosion resistance and strength. Both alloys are characterized by excellent stress-to-rupture and high tensile strength. Stainless steel 317/317L undergoes cold working and can be annealed between 1850°F and 2050°F to achieve optimum properties.
